In 1999 Ray Howe's Earth Voyager was the first to cross the Port Huron to Mackinac finish line  at 5:35 a.m. Monday after spending most of the night before stalled without wind about 20 miles from the island.  In 2000 the boat again was the first to make it to the Island and complete the race.
